Shadowed Rose Nail Art

So I feel like I owe you all an explanation regarding my recent absence.

If you follow me in Instagram you probably already know, but I started a new job last Monday! It's the first real, grown-up person job that I've had since earning my degree, so I'm obviously taking it very seriously and it's taking up a lot of my time, which is why blogging has kind of fallen to the wayside these first couple of weeks. However I'm slowly easing into this new routine and figuring out a new schedule for blogging.

In the meantime, I'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who has stuck by me through my blogging gaps recently. First it was the wedding preparations, then of course the madness of the Christmas season, and now with the new job. It's so amazing to know that you all still support me and my little blog.

Anyways, let's get to the manicure!

The jelly gradient technique I used for the base of this design came from my friend Rebecca from Rebecca Likes Nails. She did a quick tutorial here if you'd like to learn how to recreate the look. I also used this technique in another mani back in July! Check that one out here.

The colour I started with is China Glaze You Drive Me Coconuts and then I followed Rebecca's tutorial and used China Glaze Isle See You Later to create the gradient effect. Next, I used a small nail art brush and China Glaze Liquid Leather to outline a rose shape on each of my nails. I must admit, it took a few tries on a practice wheel to get the shape looking how I wanted it to. I actually did some googling to find a good rose outline inspiration and I came across this image from a NAIL IT! tutorial, so that's the basic shape I went with.

I really love how these nails turned out! I think I'll definitely be using the shadowed rose shape in more manis in the future.

Thanks for stopping by!
