So first of all, if you follow me on twitter, you probably know that yesterday I had a tragic nail break on my swatching hand, which is pretty much the worst thing ever for a nail blogger.

I managed to patch the nail up with some nail glue, Orly Nail Repair Powder, and some Entity 1 clear gel, but I had to stop my swatching marathon that I had just started because acetone kept removing the patch. I'm heading to Sally's today to pick up some non-acetone remover, so hopefully that'll help and I'll be able to continue swatching. But I did miss a whole day that I had planned on dedicating to swatching, so posts might be less frequent over the next few days while I catch up.
Anyways, tonight David and I are heading over to a friend's house for a fun game of poker and I wanted to wear a fun manicure. I'm still obsessed with the studs I got from eBay, so I knew I wanted to incorporate those. I started thinking about unique ways to use them, and I somehow landed on cherry blossoms. I did a cherry blossom mani a long time ago (almost 2 years ago, actually!), and even a tutorial for it, but this is definitely different.

I wanted a vibrant base colour that would go well with the colour scheme I had in mind for the cherry blossom trees, so I went with Illamasqua Noble, a vivid cyan blue. I then used my medium length striping brush and Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme to create the tree branches. For the flowers, I used my a few different sized dotting tools and my favourite nude polish - OPI Don't Pretzel My Buttons. Finally, I added the gold studs (which are 1.5mm, by the way) in the middle of the larger flowers and topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite.

I really like how this turned out! I love that the colour scheme and the studs bring an edgy vibe to the mani, while the delicate cherry blossoms keep it soft at the same time.
